Pop Culture, Autobiographically. Join hosts Kevin O'Brien and Taylor Gonda as they discuss things that matter, e.g. music, movies, books, and TV. We talk to guests and each other about pop culture and its never ending impact on our lives.

If we could put into words the sound of the bass at the begining of The Breeders' "Cannonball" right here, we would do it. Alas, it is something you just have to experience sonically, loudly and often. Watching MTV Buzz Bin videos. On a Saturday afternoon. In 1993. Join our guest Hutch Harris of The Thermals and of stand-up comedy as we talk about Kim Deal's band. You know that other band that's not the Pixies? Fronted by a pair of sisters? That one band that Kurt Cobain always talked about? Yeah, that one.

You know how sometimes you randomly spit out the Millennium Falcon's transponder code? Or the names of Spock's parents? Or how you always carry a towel like the Hitchhiker's Guide decrees? You may in fact be a Futurama fan. Our guest journalist and podcaster Jake Browne is just that. His eyes light up when talking about Fry, Bender, Leela and all the rest of the gang. He goes into long diatribes about the merits of the show, and does not want to hear your "it's coming back on Netflix!" theories. Join us as we talk about a Simposon's spin-off-ish that has just as crazed of a cult following!

Amongst many other musical credits, today's guest, Josh Kantor, is the organist for the Boston Red Socks. How cool is that? He is also a MASSIVE fan of Mr. Stevie Wonder. We rarely encounter Josh's level of fandom, but what fun it is to hear! Listen in as we discuss Stevie's music, his life, and how if you feel like checking out a synthesizer convention, you might just run into Little Stevie himself!

"It's hard to be a diamond in a rhinestone world." According to our guest, comedian Amy Miller, there's something magical about Dolly Parton. We talk about what it's like to sleep in a bedroom where Dolly once slept, to graciously take B.S. from Jay Leno, and how to carry yourself with grace, joy and dignity even when the world isn't often looking at your face.

Musician Chris McGarry cannot explain what it is about surrealist filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky that he loves so much. That doesn't stop us from trying for an hour and a bit. We talk The Holy Mountain, Dune, The Dance of Reality, but most especially the one that started it all, El Topo. The first midnight movie, an original cult classic, El Topo set the tone for a whole generation of filmmakers to come. If you wanted to be weird, you getta be weirder than this.

Keep up with everything Chris is doing via his website or his Facebook page for his honkey tonk band, Chris McGarry and the Insomniacs!
